2008/10/06: PhotoShop/Premiere Elements Licenses

We now carry some PhotoShop Elements 7.0 and Premiere Elements 7.0 (WIN) Licenses.

We do not know when Adobe will release the equivalent versions for Macintosh users.

Users who purchased the prior version during September will automatically receive a free upgrade.

If you want to purchase a prior version, you cannot do so directly.  Instead, you must order SQL 2008 and specify which prior version and platform (32-bit or 64-bit) you need. You will receive the prior version media at no extra cost.

2008/07/21: ESRI Licenses at Version 9.3.

ESRI has started to release their ArcGIS family of products at v9.3 including:

  • ArcInfo v9.3
  • ArcView v9.3
  • ArcIMS v9.3
  • ArcGIS Server v9.3 Enterprise (Windows)
  • Data & Maps v9.3

A few technologies previously sold as separate extensions have been added to the core of ArcGIS at version 9.3. For instance the ArcSDE technology is now integrated in all v9.3 ArcGIS software.

A few extensions have been added/removed in v9.3. Below is a list of extensions now part of ArcView v9.3 SU:

  • 3D Analyst
  • ArcScan
  • Data Interoperability
  • Geostatistical Analyst
  • Maplex
  • ArcGIS Network Analyst
  • Publisher
  • ArcGIS Schematics
  • Spatial Analyst
  • Tracking Analyst

The Survey Analyst extension is not included anymore.  Being a royalty bearing component, ESRI had to remove it.

Please note that some software have not shipped yet at version 9.3 (e.g.ArcGIS Engine v9.3).

Users who purchased any v9.2 software (EXCLUDING ArcInfo, which will be treated separately) can choose to remain at version 9.2 as long as they want, or may choose to upgrade to version 9.3.  To do so, please check our catalog for part #, prices, minimum requirements, etc.

2008/07/07: Adobe Licenses at Version 3.3.

We now carry some Adobe Licenses at Version CS 3.3 .

Adobe made the following changes between CS v3.0 and CS v3.3:

  • Acrobat Prof. v9.0 replaces v8.0
  • Fireworks CS 3.0 added to Design Premium v3.3

The changes are only differential, meaning that Adobe did not release brand new CS 3.3 suites. Instead they released 'update disks'. The problem with that painful approach is that for instance a user wanting to install a brand new Design premium CS 3.3 license must now perform 3 installs:

  • Install CS 3.0 Design Premium
  • Then install Acrobat Prof. v9.0
  • Finally install Fireworks CS 3.0

The changes impact the following software:

  • Acrobat Prof.
  • CS Design Premium
  • CS Web Premium
  • CS Master Collection (media only)

Users who purchased 'impacted software' maintenance licenses may use their user name and password to connect to our licensing servers to install the latest components (Master Collection users with maintenance will receive an updated set of media).

Users who purchased 'impacted software' during the month of June 2008 will automatically receive an update (either access to the server or new set of media) within the next few days.

2008/06/10: Norton Ghost Suite v2.5.

We now carry Norton Ghost Suite v2.5 WIN licenses.

Users who purchased Norton Ghost Suite during the last 12 months can use their license information (user name, password) to connect to the server and upgrade at no cost.

2008/06/02: Corel Office Suite X4 (WIN) Licenses.

Although our Corel latest licensing agreement expired in December of 2006, up to now we were authorized to sell WordPerfect Office Suite X3.

Corel has released WordPerfect Office Suite X4. Unfortunately Corel license pricing remains too high, thus we cannot afford to renew our agreement.

Instead we purchased a 25 pack of WordPerfect Office Suite X4 and are we now carry Corel Office Suite X4 (WIN) licenses as follow:

Stock # 125177, $50/each OFFICE SUITE X4 PROFESSIONAL (WIN) LICENSE and MEDIA.

If you order multiple licenses at once we will only provide one CD per set of 6 licenses, and discount the price to $44 per license.

2008/04/17: PowerSave v2.0 (WIN) Licenses.

We now carry PowerSave v2.00 (WIN) licenses.

Users who purchased such license(s) since 1/1/2008 may use their existing user name and password to connect to the server and upgrade at no cost.

2008/03/25: Vista Enterprise w/SP1 Licenses

We now carry Vista Enterprise with SP1, for 32-bit and 64-bit platforms.

As usual with products covered under our Microsoft Campus Agreement, departments may freely install the software on University owned computers using the standard Microsoft related user name and password.

Departments may also freely image the ISO files from our licensing servers on a DVD for later install, or buy licensed DVD for $6/each (stock # 124946 and 124947, respectively for the 32-bit and 64-bit versions).

Users with Vista Enterprise will automatically receive the upgrade to SP1 through the Windows Update and/or download center on microsoft.com.

Due to problems and bugs, Vista Ultimate with SP1 has been delayed for about a month and won't become available until late in April.

2008/03/21: Deep Freeze and PowerSave (MAC) Licenses.

We now carry Deep Freeze v4.03 (MAC) and PowerSave v2.00 (MAC) licenses.

Users who purchased such license(s) since 1/1/2008 may use their existing user name and password to connect to the server and upgrade at no cost.

Deep Freeze v4.03 (MAC) is a critical upgrade as it fixes a kernel panic in some situations when running Mac OS X 10.5.2 9C31 or higher.

2008/03/05: Windows 2008 Server Licenses

We now carry Windows 2008 server, standard and enterprise versions, for 32-bit and 64-bit platforms.

2008 pricing is equivalent to 2003 R2 pricing, and as usual our licenses include the media. Search our catalog to see all part #, prices, minimum requirements, etc.

As we have downgrade rights, we won't sell Windows 2003 server anymore.  If you need a version of Windows 2003 R2 server, then order the equivalent version of Windows 2008 server and add a comment to your requisition to specify that you also want the media for the Windows 2003 R2 server.

2008/02/29: mNotes v5.x Not Licensed.

Commontime has started to sell mNotes v5.0, while offering mNotes v4.x in parallel.

Commontime made the conscious decision not to offer v5.0 through the usual channels.

Instead, mNotes v5.0 is only sold by the vendor directly to end-users, as a monthly subscription with a yearly cost of around $125.

In the future (one year?), the vendor could discontinue mNotes v4.x, thus terminating the University license.

Consequently we only offer mNotes v4.x software licenses with v4.x maintenance ($22 yearly fee).

2008/02/01: Office 2008 (MAC) Licenses.

Per our Microsoft Campus agreement, we have updated our licensing servers with Office 2008 For MAC.

As usual with products covered under our Microsoft Campus Agreement, departments may freely install the software on University owned computers using the standard Microsoft related user name and password.

Departments may also freely copy the content of the folder on a CD for later install.

As an option we will sell the media to departments within two weeks.

2008/01/10: Visual Studio Prof. 2008 (WIN) Licenses.

Per our Microsoft Campus agreement, we have updated our licensing servers with Visual Studio 2008 Professional.

As usual with products covered under our Microsoft Campus Agreement, departments may freely install the software on University owned computers using the standard Microsoft related user name and password.

Departments may also freely copy the content of the Visual Studio folders on two DVDs for later install, as long as they keep the organization of files and folders on the DVD similar to the one on the server.

As an option we also sell the media set to departments (stock # 1124467, $30).  Besides all the compilers, Visual Studio 2008 Professional includes the MSDN Library, Crystal Reports, and SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition.

2008/01/02: SPSS v16.0 (WIN) Licenses.

We just received SPSS version 16.0 for Windows XP or up. Also, after running out of seats we had to switch our SPSS licensing contract from a Perpetual to an Enterprise agreement. The Enterprise agreement grants us unlimited seats, but costs much more and renews every year on December 1st instead of July 1st.

Users who purchased a yearly SPSS license with a July 2008 expiry date may use their existing user name and password to connect to the server and upgrade at no cost. Valid licensed users who need the latest media may also order some media, qty = 2, stock # 109184, $6/each, as long as they add a comment on their requisition to specify they want SPSS v16.0 CDs.

New users may purchase SPSS v16, stock # 124442 at a cost of $60, and with a new expiration date of 12/01/2008 (plus 30 days grace period). They may also order the media, qty = 2, stock # 109184, $6/each, as long as they add a comment on their requisition to specify they want SPSS v16.0 CDs.

On July 1st 2008, SPSS users with a July 2008 expiry date will be able to purchase an SPSS license up to 12/01/2008 for $30 instead of the regular $60 price. Finally in December of 2008, everyone will be 'in sync' and will be able to purchase yearly licenses good thru 12/01/2009, at a cost of $60.

2007/07/31:CS3 Master Collection (MAC/WIN) Licenses.

We just updated our portfolio of Adobe licenses with the following MAC/WIN software.

  • After Effects Prof. CS3/v8.0
  • Premiere Prof. CS3/v3.0
  • SoundBooth CS3/v1.0
  • Creative Suite CS3/v1.0 Master Collection.

All licenses come with installation media (nothing is on the server).  For large orders we will only provide one set of media and offer an extra discount.

2007/07/19: SPSS v15.0 (WIN) Licenses.

We just setup part # 123651, $32/each for SPSS, which allows users to install and activate SPSS for one more year (up to July 1st, 2008 plus 30 days grace period). The few users in need of a CD set can also order stock # 109184, $6/each, qty=2.

The latest version of SPSS remains version 15, so users of that version won't have to reinstall the software, just to activate it (a 30 second job) to keep using it for an extra year.

In other new, SPSS v16 has been announced but will not be released until sometimes in October of 2008.

Finally, from now on SPSS decided to only support their most TWO recent versions of SPSS (today v15 and v16), thus we cannot provide activation codes for v14 and prior. To keep using the SPSS software, users of v14 and prior will have to install v15 (and/or v16 when released).

We now carry Deep Freeze Enterprise v6.30 (WIN) licenses.
